Basically Pac-Man with more brains, Supaplex involves you navigating a round, red thingamajig collecting Infotrons, solving puzzles and reaching the exit within each level. Many obstacles will interfere with your progress, such as boulders or scissors. Nothing is random here, and while good reflexes help, carefully planning every move (especially in the later levels) is an absolute must. For instance, boulders always tumble in a certain way, while scissors follow a pre-set path around corners.
You can create your own path through levels by eating away at the terrain, and it’s often necessary to plan your path around levels so as to not get stuck or destroyed by a scissor or falling explosive disk. The game rules are easy to figure out and very logical – never does it feel arbitrary when you lose – and the addicting stream of levels (over 100) is surprisingly entertaining.
